Getting a list of participants out of Blackboard

Participants in an Organization are analogous to students in a standard course, so you can quickly get a list by downloading a spreadsheet from the Grade Center. To do this, first navigate to the Full Grade Center [1].

Next, hover over Work Offline" and click Download [2]

On the next page select "User Information Only" [3] and leave the rest of the options on their default settings. Click submit [4].

On the next page click Download [5] to save the file to a convenient location on your computer.

Open that file in Microsoft Excel, and copy the cells under "Username".

Adding users in bulk in Canvas

Go to your course in Canvas, and click the People link [6] in the left navigation.

Next, click the +People button [7] in the upper right.

In the pop up window, choose "Login ID" [8] and then paste the list of usernames [9] that you copied from Excel. Then, click Next [10].

Another pop up window will appear and Canvas will verify the usernames that you copied. Click Add Users [11], and all users will be invited to your course. If your course has been published, users will be notified that they have been added, and prompted to accept the invitation next time they log in. If your course hasn't been published, they will not see their invitation until you do so.
